Centre for Training in Life-Saving measures

COIMBATORE: TACT Academy for Clinical Training and Medserve have opened in the city a centre that will impart training to healthcare professionals, nurses in life saving skills.

Basic Life Support Provider Course, accredited by the American Heart Association, will be among the courses the organisation will conduct.

Manipal Medical Simulation Centre inaugurated

Manipal Simulation Centre was officially inaugurated on 22 June, 2009. Inaugurating the 'Manipal Simulation Centre' (MSC) at the Manipal University, Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda said the technique would allow interaction with almost any pre-programmed scenarios on demand. In Medical colleges the interactive stations having full high fidelity, computer driven bodies provide a different challenge to the users. This would also lessen the burden of fetching and avoid the risks of experimenting on human bodies. The minister said the new simulation centres like the one installed at Manipal University here provide actual-patient environment with real medical equipment to allow the users a feel of realism and maintain that sense of urgency that they need in real life situation.

The Manipal Simulation Centre is first of its kind instituted in the private medical college in the country. The facility is available to the students and colleges functioning under Manipal University, informed MSC Director Dr Ram Kumar.
