SRM/STRATUS Medical Simulation Centre Inauguration

The SRM/STRATUS Centre for Medical Simulation is a highly advanced educational centre which utilizes state-of-the-art technology including computer controlled patient simulation systems and individualized task trainers; taking medical education to the next level. It is situated in the SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, SRM Nagar, Kattankulathur campus, SRM University.

In collaboration with the Neil and Elise Wallace STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston; a Harvard teaching institution and education centre, the SRM/STRATUS Centre for Medical Simulation at SRM University Teaching Hospital will provide clinicians of every discipline and level of training the opportunity to improve their skills by experiencing reality-based patient care presentations in a range of simulated environments. The centre was Inaugurated on 03.01.2011 by Dr. D. Purandareswari, Hon'ble Minister of State, HRD, Govt. of India

 

 

 

Mahatma Gandhi Medical College Pondicherry setting up advanced learning centre

Mahatma Gandhi Medical College (Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University – Pondichery) is setting up an advanced learning centre by commissioning a full fledged Patient Simulation & Skills lab at their campus in Pondichery. Sri Balaji University will incorporate SBME into the teaching curriculum inline with modern day teaching practices. This state of the art facility spread over space of over 3000 sq feet will be inaugurated by the end of December 2010. MG Simulation lab will incorporate SimMan® , Sim NewB® and many other partial task trainers, skills trainers and manikins.

 

 

 

PSG Medical College & Hospital Coimbatore sets up Simulation Lab

PSG Medical College & Hospital, Coimbatore goes for technology innovations in the Silver Jubilee Year with the addition of a state of the art Patient Simulation & Skills Center to incorporate SBME into the current teaching curriculum. The PSG simulation lab which will be built over a space of over 5000 sq. feet will be commissioned by end of December 2010 will have the most advanced adult Patient Simulator SimMan 3 G® and the infant simulator Sim NewB® in addition to the numerous partial task trainers, skills trainers and manikins.

Medicos may be made to practise on ‘dummies'

NEW DELHI: Working on major reforms in the curriculum for medical courses, the Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India (MCI) has suggested that MBBS students be made to practise on ‘dummies' rather than on normal patients or trained volunteers.

Skill lab to train medical students inaugurated

CHENNAI: It is very important for students of medical sciences to add value to their knowledge, says Ramesh C. Deka, Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Addressing the inaugural of a skill lab at the Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Dr. Deka said values and ethics were as important to medical students as cognitive learning, psychomotor skills and hands-on training were believed to be.
