Local Anaesthesia for Minor Surgery

Teaches the essential skills and techniques required to perform local anaesthesia for minor surgery using ring blocks and various infiltration techniques. Topics covered: Syringes & needles, Drugs & dosage, Infiltration anaesthesia, and Ring Block.

The Medical Skills training system combines Limbs & Things advanced models with multimedia software, and covers each subject with a Trainer Edition for teaching, and a Trainee Kit for self-directed learning.

Minor Skin Procedures

Teaches the essential skills and techniques required to perform minor surgical procedures on lesions which are on, in or just under the skin. Topics covered: Instrument management, Snip & shave execution, Curettage, Haemostasis, Making a linear incision, Ellipse opening & closure, Epidermal cyst removal, Dissection, Lipoma removal, Subcuticular suturing, and Knot tying.

Ingrowing Toenail

Teaches the essential skills and techniques required in the application of a tourniquet and wedge excision of an ingrowing toenail. Topics covered: Instrument management, Ring Block, Applying the tourniquet, Wedge excision of nail, Phenolisation of the nail bed, and Dressing the toe.

Local Anaesthesia Pad

This pad represents the top layer of the skin structure, with printed skin lesions of varying sizes. Only representations of the lesions are necessary as no actual surgical excisions are carried out on this pad.
